Hello! I´am Mai
Dear host Family letter
Dear future host family.
Are you prepared for the best au pair you can find? If yes, please continue reading this letter.
My name is Mai and I’m a 20 years old girl from Denmark. I have just finishing my high school ex-ams this summer, and I am now ready to going for an adventure by my own. I have always loved America and their culture (especially their crazy holidays and Traditions), and now it’s time for me to experience it in real life.
I have been in America two times before. The first time was summer 2015, were I studied English for three weeks in San Francisco CA. It was a big experience because I was travelling alone, and I had never been in USA before. But I survived the three weeks in the most charming city, and learned more English, plus I got some friends from all over the world. The second time I was in USA was in the summer 2016 for a summer vacation with my family. We had rented a car in LA, and then drove through California, Nevada, Arizona and New Mexico, and we made some stops to look at some tourist attraction – I fell in love with the peaceful Yosemite National Park, Los Angel’s city life, and San Francisco’s cable cars. And I’m more than ready to go back to this country.
I have chosen the au pair job, because I love spending time with kids. Sometimes kids have another perspective than people on my age, which I think is kind of healthy. But what I most love about children, are their trust in other people. They have no ulterior motives or prejudices about what you look like, behave or similar intelligent - which I feel is so liberty.
Beside that, I’m a very creative person, which means I can change everything in to an adventure, and I will therefore love to take your kid/kids out for a treasure hunt in the park, play hide and seek in your garden or drawing pictures, and If I am making food for you, your kids will properly be in the kitchen with me, so I can show them how to make cooking into a fun game, where they can use their imagination, and see how the food is made from scats. Speaking of cooking, I’m a very great chef, I really love spending time in the kitchen, cooking and preparing dinner for my family and friends. I will therefore hope, that you’re ready, for my cooking skills.
I am adopted from China and came to Denmark when I was 1,5 years old, and now I’m living in Denmark with my family. The City I live in is Roskilde, a medium-size city about 30 minutes from the Capital, Copenhagen.
My family consists of four persons, my mom, dad and little sister (19 years old, whom is also adopted from China). My family is a “middle-class family”, where my dad works as an engineer and my mom as a social worker. We have a big dog named Flemming and a cat named Kalle, which means I love animals in all sizes, and I won’t have any problem living with them. – Which means I love animals.
I come from a family, that are surprising similar to the family in TV-Series “Modern Family”.
Especially the relationship between the two sisters Haley and Alex Dunphy. If you don’t know the show, is my relationship to my sister really good. We are like Jing and Yang, my sister (Lin), loves to study and read books, while I wasn’t that good in school, but excellent to communicate with other people. We love helping our family at home, we have this rule at home where you are helping with the food, or helping with the dishwasher, witch I think it pretty smart.
My personality is very strong, and I’m not afraid to say what I’m thinking or feeling about a situation, which makes me a very truthful and honest person.
One of my best qualities is my talent for other people. I’m very good at communicate with other people because I’m using my secret weapon: which is my humour and sense of propriety. I also love when I can make them laugh and have a good time with me, and I will do anything to make that hap-pened. It is also one of the reasons why I love spending time with children, because it is so easy to make them laugh and smile. Another thing I am pretty good at, is to use my imagination and my creativities, so my everyday life gets a little bit more exciting. Etc. When I have nothing to do, I’m good to - at making plans for myself, it could be, drawing, cooking, exploring my town or writing in my dia-ry. I will therefore love, to show your kid/kids my world, and how I live my life.
I don’t follow any food-plan, but I’ll love it if the food is organic and partly healthy (which means I’ll make sure that your children’s food is (mostly) healthy and varied.
Last but not least, I’ll come with a funny fact about me. I love fashion and specially luxuries hand-bags. Some of my friends even call me a “yuppie” (in a good way), which mean I love formal and classy clothes. It’s doesn’t need to be expensive, as long as it is still cute to wear.
I’m a person that easy can be attaches to other people, and I’m searching for a family that really sticks together, and are willing to show me their world for me, such as showing me their family traditions and really go all in, for me to feel welcome in the family.
I don’t mind where I live in USA; I will therefore feel comfortable wherever I live, if it is a farm, in an apartment or in a house near a big city or maybe a park. I won’t have any problem if I have to live in the same house or in a separate house then you.
I got my driver’s license for almost 3 years ago, and I have driven every day since. It means that I’m use to driving on the highway, in big city’s, in village and in all kinds of weather.
I also have a First Aid citification in connected with the driver license.
I really hope you find this letter attractive, and I will promise that you won’t regret having me as you future au pair.
